Is My Wife Awakening?
by My Name is of No Consequence inevery now and then, my wife will talk about how things are not making sense within the org.
i usually just dismiss it as her playing mind games with me.
for example, she would ask why there are so many branches being closed or why so many congregations are being merged.

"A quote can be taken out of context. Critical reports often only give part of a matter and leave out other aspects. Often such rumors play on the emotions."
Take it from the experts on the subject.
EDIT: I should have read all comments first. Pretty much everyone noticed the same thing.

I was quite tolerant of this guy until now
by never a jw inpresident trump is definitely a demagogue, a populist, and not a great extemporaneous speaker, just to mention few of his more conspicuous flaws.
however, i was going along because "it's the economy stupid".
now that has changed.

What wasanelder said.
Also I want to add that I understand that the American white male has been neglected, mistreated, rejected, maligned unfairly in the last few decades, but is Trump your idea of how to fix that injustice? You could have done better, far better.

Padron Case Settled. What happens to the fine?
by Slidin Fast init seems that irwin zalkin has obtained undisclosed settlement in the case.
the $4000 a day fine then seems to be dead.
the downside?

Bobby "nets probably 3 billion a year"
How do you arrive at that number, which I find it possible only as net income, and before you account for the usually large percentage of expenses.
Ultimately you are wrong regarding your assessment of the org. not being in trouble. People are leaving slowly, some are slowing down because their faith is also diminishing, and many more only stay because they are heavily dependent on the social club. I see it in my JW relatives. They no longer are the zealous JW's once were. Trust me on that, that zealous generation is almost gone, in some cases literally.
20 years a go the Watchtower was creating new congregations and buying properties and building, today they are consolidating congregations and selling property. If that's not a sign of tough times, I don't know what is.

Bobby: " it’s an undeniable fact that most Jws still care, you may as well find another hobby. "
You are right. However, you are missing the part about aging and dying, and not finding enough replacements. The new generation of JW's don't fall for bullshit as easily as the older generations of JW's, which are slowly but surely moving to the next stage in the cycle of life, nourishing the soil.

Crazyguy,
Agree, two incomes are needed, but that's mainly because we enjoy more comforts too. Regarding credit, what does that have to do with anything. It's credit, it has to be paid. It's not a gift that is added to your salary. If anything credit takes money away from your salary, and that's nobody else's fault but the undisciplined individual, ...certainly not government or corporations' fault.

Morpheus,
Trump is not the first one and he won't be the last. My problem is that either protectionists like Trump don't learn from lessons of the past or don't care. Either way is bad policy

Scratch me "Sorry to hear that there's yet another person disappointed at the current Administration of the country. Sad."
Are you still in the cult? Disagreeing is a very healthy thing. At least way healthier than being in a group where everybody agrees.. Watchtower anyone??

Crazyguy,
The standard of living has gone consistently up for everyone, everywhere. The rich has acquired wealth at a faster pace than the rest of us, but the standard of living of just about everyone has gone up.
Just a small example, few decades ago traveling abroad was a dream for most of us. Today, that is accessible to a huge number of people. Cable TV, cell phones and many other life's comforts are the norm nowadays. Granted few of those thing didn't exist in the 70's, but quality of life overall has improved for everyone. I credit innovation and free markets for that.
Protectionism lowers the standard of living for everyone. You will see...or maybe not. I hope...I believe POTUS is either bluffing or someone is going to bring some sense into his narcissistic brain.
